I have a phantom (half) ring and everything is connected properly
Phantom rings aren't new. I didn't install the Ring doorbell, it came in a house I'm renting. I've added the doorbell to my subscription. At various times during the night, the mechanical doorbell (1985 hours) will buzz for about 5 seconds and do a half ring. I've pulled the cover off and watched it. I didn't install the doorbell, which is a Wired Doorbell Plus/Video Doorbell Pro, but I checked the wiring and it all looks good. It's only two wires and they aren't touching and I found instructions online showing that it doesn't matter which wire is connected to which.I'm not getting a notification, just the buzz followed by a half ring. It happens in the evening. It just happened at 8:30p but has happened as late as 5:00a. I went into the settings and chose none for the doorbell/chime. When I press the button, it still rings (but not the Ring's doorbell sound). I cycled through all of them and left it on none. But it still does a phantom half-ring. I've read that it could be the transformer, but I haven't seen anything to guarantee that's the problem. As I didn't purchase the Ring, I'd have to pay for a replacement, and it seems like it should be covered by Ring if that truly is the problem. From what I've read, it can be because there's extra draw at night when the IR lights are activated. There's no consistency other than it happens after dark.Does Ring sell replacement higher power transformers? I don't mind spending a few $$$ to fix this, since unplugging it means I lose my 1-yr subscription. Luckily I don't have dogs that would lose their minds when it went off..I don't want to fight it, I just want the late night phantom ring to go away.

I didn't install it and I don't know how long it's been here. But from what I've researched, there are two wires that are difficult not to install correctly. Here's what it looks like in the mechanical bell unit. It appears correct from what I've seen. I would assume that everything needed to do a p

JHi @user_b92ff5. Thank you for sharing that picture. The wiring looks correct. The next best step would be to give our support team a call to further investigate this with you. Our support team will be able to take a deeper look into this than we can here.

Hi @user_b92ff5. I would first ensure that you have a Pro Power Pack properly installed. This is a device that ensures your circuit is properly powered and when not installed, phantom dings do occur. Feel free to post a picture of your Chime Kit and how it's wired so we can look it over for you. You can find the Pro Power Kit here.
