Ring Alarm
Firmware update for motion sensor won't apply
One of my motion sensors is showing a firmware update available. I’ve tapped “schedule update” in the Ring app (with the system disarmed) and it shows “updating” and a percentage. I’ve never seen the percentage go past 6% before it either stops or starts over. The percentage changes are also very slow (several minutes for a 1% change). All of my other Ring Alarm sensors are showing as up-to-date, only this one motion sensor seems to having a problem. Battery level shows green. What can I do to get this firmware update applied?

Hi @windracer. I’m glad to hear you were able to get the firmware update taken care of! If the Motion Detector is working correctly and is able to update its status in the Ring app, that means it’s able to communicate with the Base Station, so I wouldn’t worry too much. Feel free to update this thread, or create a new post, if you notice any other issues with this sensor.

I was finally able to get the firmware update complete by taking the motion sensor off its mounting bracket and putting it right next to the base station. Glad that worked, but odd because I have other sensors that are further from the base station than this motion sensor and none of them seemed to have firmware update issues.
