Ring Alarm
Disarm/arm Ring Alarm based on time
Hello Ring Community! I’ve been searching through posts trying to find an answer to my issue with the Ring alarm. I really hope the feature is available, and that I’m just totally missing it, to arm and disarm the Ring alarm by the time. I really need it to set at 11:30pm and disarm at 5:30AM. Lately I’ve been up later than my kids and they’re setting it off! Hoping you all may have solutions for me. One thing I did try was an Alexa routine...epic fail!! Only work 10% of the time. That Alexa is a very finicky woman!!! ?

Thank you! I’m not quite convinced With SimpleCommands. Arming works but disarming does not. Found out the hard way again. My family wants to strangle me! I have tech support looking into it. Maybe they can fit it out. I’m a little concerned putting my Ring info into SimpleCommands as well. Free service and all. Anyone else feel a little uneasy?

DHello, I'm trying to set this up as well so that I can automate arming Ring or turn it off. I have my Ring, Hue, and SmartThings accounts linked to SimpleCommands. I can see both Ring cameras and their status in SimpleCommands. However, when adding a Routine, I don't see either Ring camera in the list of actions. Is that where it should be listed? Thanks

EI just looked at my simple commands app. It only has my alarm and chimes available as part of a routine. I mainly use it to arm and disarm my alarm by times. What are you trying to do with your cams? I may know a way to do what you're looking for.

KYes, a free third-party is suspicious. Software costs money, so what is their source? I've recommended we explore a class action against ring to get this resolved. If the community bands together the feature can obviously be introduced to base stations.

EIt's not possible at this time. Hopefully they add this feature. You may be able to do it with another app like IFFT or such. But it's not a simple thing as if Alexa was to do it.

YStill waiting for the feature: arm/disarm by time Yelling at Alexa, going through SimpleCommands or other routines just creates additional vulnerability points. ADT had a bad interface, but the functionality was there to create simpple conditional rules: R1: When Disarmed, Arm "At Home" at 10pm R2: When Armed "At Home", Disarm at 6am Most importantly, when armed "Away", the above rules don't trigger, so you can go on vacation and leave the system in "Away" mode for several days.

This is a necessary feature. I have sensors on 5 external doors. During the day when the house is active with family my phone goes nuts with Ring alerts. Every time a door opens. Alert. A door closes. Alert. I often find my phone has vibrated itself off the desk. It lies on the floor as if laughing at all the alerts from Ring. Even my phone knows this is wrong. We need a way to silence door sensors just as we have with Ring cameras. Fix this soon!

This is what I did to set my Ring alarm to Arm in Home mode at a certain time everyday. You can chose Away mode aswell, but most people usually schedule it to come on when they head to bed, which is normally Home mode. Before this can work, you have to have two devices (example: my echo & Fire Cube) near each other so they can hear each other. My devices are about 10ft apart. If they are further, just higher the volume enough so each one can hear the other device. Go to your Alexa app, go to routine, 1. Give it a name, Ring Alarm Home 2. Chose the time you want the Alarm to be set, 10:00 pm 3. Chose what you want Alexa to say, "Alexa, Set Ring Alarm to Home" 4. Chose what device you want it to come from: My echo At 10pm, my echo will say "Alexa, Set Ring Alarm to Home" then Fire cube will hear it and repeat it and start the arming the alarm. Thats it! You will never have to worry about having to set the alarm manually again! You can do the same to Disarm it, just have my echo say, "Alexa, Disarm Ring, (put in Wait 5 seconds as a delay) then type in what you want Alexa to say your password is, One, Two, Three, Four, I would suggest you spell the numbers out, because Alexa would say One Thousand two hundred and thirty four. Hope this helps everyone!

PTO RING SUPPORT - any update on this. This really does seem a fundamental oversight with the system. SC schedule doesn't seem to work and bouncing voice commands off other devices will just convince my wife further, all these gadgets are just a wind up!

DThis is silly. No reason we should do without scheduling on Ring Alarm. Just fix this Ring! I’m not interested in inviting Amazon into my home with a pile of their devices just to try and get a simple alarm to go on and off.

DAmazon bought Ring at the end of July 2020. I expect that everyone that made Ring successful is off on a tropical beach somewhere enjoying their millions, meanwhile the worker bees at Amazon are trying to rationalize the executive decision to buy Ring by forcing us to very awkwardly use an Alexa product that really doesn't work for this scenario.

I just tested this and it worked. Set up a routine in Simple Commands by kloee to disarm ring. No other actions or any triggers. Create a routine in Alexa with a time scheduled and set the Simple Command routine in the Alexa routine as a "Scene". My test worked just fine. I don't personally have the need to arm/disarm Ring on a schedule but I was sure there was a way to do it. Actually, I might set up a routine to arm Ring in case I forget to do it at bedtime. As a side note, Simple Commands by kloee has the ability to recognize when Ring is the "alarming" state and I use that trigger to activate all of my Tula smart plug controlled lights and auxiliary siren. If you do not define a trigger in SC routines, you can embed them into Alexa routines. If you define triggers, they will function autonomously and control any Alexa compatible devices. I find that S.C. by kloee adds a great deal of functionality to both Ring and Alexa
