  All great questions @Charanjit! Our Alarm devices do indeed require the Alarm Base Station to operate. The Alarm Base Station offers various features, communication protocols, and monitoring options to ensure our neighbors can have an optimal experience. We offer [Alarm security kits](https://shop.ring.com/products/alarm-security-kit), in which the 5 piece kit is the best to start with, unless you are needing more sensors. As far as integrations, we are always adding to our already robust and feature loaded Ring app. If a function or automation is not available in our app, Alexa enabled skills and routines can certainly add to your 'Ring of security'.
