There Must Be A Way To Be Protected During Power Outages

Living where there are frequent mandated outages is there something in the works to ensure continuous security? Google Sidewalk??

Hello @Tgt75 ,

If you are referring to the Ring Alarm system (Intruder Alarm Detection system), your Alarm Base Station remains Z-Wave connected to the all the battery-powered Contact and Motion sensors, and the Base Station has a 24-hour backup battery with the ability using the built-in cellular backup to maintain connection to your Ring App and Professional monitoring. So your security is still there during an outage and you remain protected.

But if you are referring to the Ring Doorbells and Ring Security cameras (Surveillance monitoring system), your cameras need Wi-Fi to record/store videos and maintain a connection to your Ring App, then currently your surveillance system unfortunately will not function during the outage (since the Wi-Fi router will be down). Is there something in the works for the camera system? I personally do not know. The “Sidewalk” feature also needs Wi-Fi, so it is doubtful that this could be an alternative for extensive outage areas. :frowning:

I hope you find this information useful.
