There are countless Z-wave devices which take advantage of zwave advanced command classes to perform much more than just on/off functionality, including notifications. As a board member of the Z-wave Alliance, Ring should fully support these classes, like Smart Things and Hubitat already do.
Commenting on this to bump it up. With thermostats now supported, this is likely going to become even more important, since it seems many thermostats with IR based controls will require this. I’m using the ZXT-600 for my AC units for example, and as their manual outlines, this is required to be able to configure the unit with proper controls. This can just be under the advanced settings if the concern is about user confusion for those who don’t know what they are doing, but this is quite critical going forward.
