Stick-Up Cam Not Recognizing Wired

Hi,

I just noticed earlier today that one of my two stick-up cameras had a symbol signifying that it was not connected to power. It has a battery in it and it is also wired. It’s not recognizing that it is wired even though it is at a constant 100%. I tried troubleshooting it by switching it to Battery Mode and then attempting to switch it back to Wired Mode but it won’t allow me to do so since it is not recognizing it is plugged it. Other than that so far the camera is working.

Hi @SCT. Can you please let me know which model of Stick Up Cam you have? You can locate the model name on the Device Health page in the Ring app. There are several different versions of the Stick Up Cam, so it helps to know which device we’re working with. A good troubleshooting step to try is to perform a quick reboot in the Ring app using the reboot option on the Device Health page.

I too am having the identical issue. It’s not recognizing 3rd party Charging Accessories (ie. if I have the OEM cable plugged in, it says it’s plugged into a solar panel, yet it says it’s not detecting being plugged in even tho it’s clearly getting the power from the cord). Clearly a bad update is displaying things wonky…

Model: Stick Up Cam Solar (3rd Gen) even tho there is NO solar plugged in, it’s plugged in directly using the Ring Indoor\Outdoor Cable.

Stick Up Cam Solar (3rd Gen).

I did try rebooting but it did not fix it. Camera is working entirely fine. Just not recognizing it’s wired, via RING Indoor/Outdoor Power Adapter plug. I think it is recognizing that it is connected to the Solar Panel but I stopped using solar over a year ago as it didn’t provide enough power for the current settings I have set.

I used to use the solar panel as well, but switched to the OEM outdoor wire for power (battery still inside).

I even tried doing a reset (big mistake). I ran a non-oem power cable through the wall to take the current outside. In order to set it up again I had to use the OEM power cable otherwise I got the “power not connected, try again?” message. So I set it up using the OEM, and even with that it still gave me the error.

So as the previous person has said it works just fine, thinking it’s on solar, which isn’t a problem, it’s more of an annoyance of it showing “power disconnected” message and icon on the camera thumbnail.

Not a hug thing, just annoying. But if people try to switch it to battery and then back, without doing a full restore or using the OEM cable to do the switchback (a major hassle depending where you’ve got it installed), it’s a hurdle. Someone at Ring needs to roll back the latest software version they pushed, or correct in a future version, cause it’s annoying.

Thanks!

Had a power cut recently and since then, the app shows my stock up came (3rd Gen) as disconnected from power however, it’s 100% charged continuously - because it is actually charging through power!

Any ideas?

There have been no updates to fix this!! I hope ring is still working on this

All four of my stick up cams (3rd Generation) at two separate locations are now showing this error while plugged into a non OEM wired charger. It says solar status connected but it is not charging. Is this due to some sort of software update?

My stick up 3rd generation is also showing the icon on my iPhone that states not receiving power. I checked to see if it’s on my computer and it isn’t. I’ve tried everything from rebooting, changing the battery unplugging the power source, etc. I’ve tried all and the icon is still on the iPhone. Please resolve as it is very annoying. Thanks

I have this same problem. Hope they find a fix soon since my 4 stick up cams are pretty useless now. I sure hope they provide a credit for the Ring Protect Plan I’m paying for.

I found this as an old post but I just started having the same problem with a 3rd Generation Stick Up Cam Pro Wired. All of a sudden today it reports it as solar power with a different icon. I power cycled it and it went back to normal but few hours later it’s back to showing as a solar panel power but indeed it is wired to my outlet. How can this be fixed?

Using Stickup cam 3rd gen. Battery installed, using proper power adapter to working power source. I have tried all the recommended reboots, deleted and readied device as wired, etc. Device still does not recognize as wired.

One thine I noticed was that drilling into camera settings device shows power not connected. However if I drill into general settings it shows power mode as wired. See attached screen shots.

The same here. For sure a software or firmware bug. What surprise me is how slow is Ring to detect and fix it. Oops they didn’t fix yet even after more than 2 weeks.

As seen in photo last health check is 12/31/69 7:00 this is true on all 4 of my devices. I hope they get to work on fixing these problems!!!

Can anyone tell me if ring is still working on a solution or should I give up on this topic being resolved

I’m wondering the same thing. I was hoping the update the other day would have fixed it but no such luck.
