I’ve seen similar posted before and Ring support can’t seem to help.
My camera seems to ignore the custom motion zone I set up and still seems to record when motion happens anywhere in the field of view. So I get lots of nuisance alerts.
I’ve tried a reboot, tried deleting and recreating zones far far away from where I want to exclude the motion. All to no avail. It says the firmware is up to date?
Is it a bug?
(I don’t think it is user error as my ring doorbell and other ring camera (a floodlight ring cam) operate as expected. It’s just the Spotlight Cam Plus that is giving me headaches)

Motion Zone problems related to my (wired) Ring doorbell have been driving me crazy. (It’s very frustrating when features work for a while, then no longer function properly.)
The Motion Zone problems seem to fall into two main categories:
The inability to create (custom) Motion Zones in desirable shapes/sizes (since you often can’t move individual dots to appropriate locations)
Motion Zones are being ignored by Ring (which means that many unwanted video clips are being created)
Although unclear, I suspect that some (if not most) of the problems are being caused by Ring’s Bird’s Eye View feature. I didn’t turn it on, but it looks like it may have been turned on by Ring.
Same issue with both Spotlight Cam Plus plugin cameras. This new model that replaced the original Spotlight Cam simply sucks! Total junk. When these get to the point of needing replacement, will scrap my 4 cameras and replace with another manufacturer.
