Solar Wall light battery died

My new Wall Light Solar won’t hold a charge. (Neither will the path lights, but I’m still trouble shooting them) I have STRONG full sunlight & it’s in a location that I had a generic solar motion detection light, but goes offline overnight. My path lights did the same so I brought them in to charge separately. I’ve got the Wall Light inside now to charge & I can’t tell if it’s charging as the light isn’t flashing like it did w/first charge. The batteries are dated 2021/01/20, so they aren’t old, but I would like replacements.
Additionally, I noticed that it has an input for a wired charger? What charger is used for this? As it may be a long term answer ?

Help!

Hi @Gtfinchy. Can you specify which Solar smart lighting device you have? Is it the Solar Floodlight or the Solar Pathlight? Our support team may be able to better assist in this case as well since you are wanting replacement batteries. You can give our support team a call at one of the numbers available here. I bought the Wall Light Solar & find that it just CAN’T keep its batteries charged even though it is in VERY DIRECT Sunlight most of the day. I took it down & FULLY charged the 18650 batteries using an Ultrafire 18650 charger. But, I noticed that it has a barrel plug adapter socket on the back & clear routing for the cord to be used. So… I found THIS " Indoor/Outdoor Power Adapter Barrel Plug for Ring Stick Up Cam Plug-In - White" on Amazon which appears to be just what I need to hardwire it. Anyone tried this or can answer if this adapter works for the “Wall Light Solar”?? (Especially since the “solar” part is pretty much a lost cause. I can’t take the light down every day for an 8 hour charge OR keep a pair of batteries around to swap out as I’d still be taking the unit down every couple of days or so. I DO NOT keep the light on all the time & I disable motion detection from Dawn to Dusk.

@Gtfinchy I noticed you had a second post on the same topic, so I went ahead and moved it into this post to keep everything together. Additionally, I do want to note that the Indoor/Outdoor Power Adapter which is not designed to work with a different device. As such, we do not recommend purchasing this accessory to try and use it with the device you have, as we cannot guarantee it would work. As I mentioned above, I think contacting our support team would be the best way to find a solution for your concern.

I would love to learn more about this issue as I am on my 2nd Ring Solar Wall Light. My first one could not maintain a charge as the others have described.

After technical troubleshooting, it was determined that Ring would just replace the light as it was within the warranty timeframe.

One month into having my 2nd Ring Solar Wall Light…I am having the EXACT same issues.

This light also gets plenty of sunlight, and I have two Ring Solar Step Lights outside as well and they never lose their charge.

I am having pretty much the same issues. How long are the batteries supposed to last? I have path lights and wall light. My wall light is not even 6 months old, bring it in to charge, charges after 6 hours to 93%, put it out and 20 minutes later its at 70%. I am waiting for replacement batteries for 2 of my path solar lights. I am weary ordering batteries off of Amazon since you never know what you’re getting and if it is what you need to use for the solar lights. Any idea when Ring will have replacement batteries?

I purchased 2 solar wall lights, 1 - May '22 and 1- June '22, both were charged fully and installed in direct sunlight 6+ hours of the day - Solar charging seemed to work for about 2 weeks then I noticed that the solar charging stopped working, batteries levels are dropping every day even during a cloudless day. Has there been any issues discovered with the solar charging system. Very disappointed that both lights are experiencing the same issue and seem flawed. Any guidance would be great. Thank you.

Hi Neighbors. If you have verified your Solar Wall Lights have been getting direct sunlight for the recommended amount of time as well as verified they have not been more active and are still having the same concern, give our support team a call at one of the numbers available here for further assistance. I FINALLY “fixed” my problem w/my Solar Wall light battery by buying the DIRECT WIRED power supply for the “Stick up Camera - wired” which happens to fit fine AND keeps the Solar Light charged. Even w/STEADY sunlight for most of the day, it would never keep a charge so I had to constantly take it down from its mount & charge the batteries separately. Now have two dead batteries in 2 Path Lights which Ring is sending replacement units (not batteries - the whole pathlight). Ring, PLEASE offer your 5at254 batteries for a reasonable price so we can keep backups for these!

Did you receive your replacement lights?

Thanks for verifying for us. Been having same issues my ring wall light and pathlight solar. None of them can keep a charge. Its a shame when my neighbors cheap $5 dollar solar pathlights you can buy at the dollar store actually does a better job holding a charge than these overpriced smart lights and on top of that don’t even sell or offer replacement ring batteries either. I expected much better for the money. Will not recommend till Ring can do better!

Hi neighbors. If you find that the battery in your Solar Smart Lighting device is draining more quickly than expected, make sure the solar panel is receiving several hours of direct sunlight each day. I’d also recommend checking the settings, as the battery will drain quickly if your Smart Light is detecting motion and turning on frequently. For more information on battery drain in your Solar Smart Light, please review this Help Center article.

If none of the information above helps, and you still find that the battery is draining faster than expected, please follow up with our support team at one of the numbers available here. If you are outside of the US, please visit here to see how to contact support.

It’s almost like ring really believes rechargeable batteries last indefinitely. These things are rated for maybe 500 cycles at best so expect them to lose much of their capability in 2 years or less. For the love of God just sell us the batteries! Calling you guys will not make the batteries start working better and trust me I know, you don’t have any answers to any questions that we can’t already find on your website. SELL THE BATTERIES! or at least give us all of the battery specs, not some of them.

I also purchsed the same Direct Wired barrel plug too but my wall light solar does not charge at all. I have two units and doing the same not charging. The only way to charge is use the usb cable and take down the light to chage.
