Solar panel with spotlight cam worked well for about 6 months, now not working

I've been using the spotlight cam on my garage with the solar panel for most of the year. It was working great for a long time, but the past few months, it's not helping the battery retain a charge. I took the battery off and charged it, but I might as well not even bother with it anymore. Does this thing have a shelf life? I'll be extremely disappointed if it died after less than a year.
