Smoke Monitoring Flexibility

How is it that the only way to prevent the fire department from being dispatched is that the first contact cancels it when he/she receives the phone call? This is ridiculous. Anyone should be able to prevent any dispatch by disarming the alarm from the keypad or phone. If there is a real fire, we will let the alarm keep ringing. My alarm went off for no reason the other day and luckily I was home with my phone. You're telling me that I have to be on high alert any time anyone in my house cooks something? I will be returning the First Alert smoke alarm that I purchased since Ring doesn't allow any flexibility with this procedure and because the alarm went off for absolutely no reason.
