Ring Chime Pro (2nd Gen) Can you turn off just the extender?

Can you just turn off the extender portion and still get alerts from cameras?

I realize there is a no extender version, but may need the extender in the future.

Hi @DalTxJim. If you would just like to use the Chime feature without the wifi extension, you can just change the wifi network of the device connect to the Chime. You can do that by following the information in this Help Center article here.

If you do not use the Wi-Fi extender network function, does Chime pro still create a SSID for 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks and broadcast these new extender networks consuming some of your Wi-Fi channel spectrum?

Hi @ken_bar. No, it does not. If no Ring devices are connected to it as a wifi extender, it will not consume a lot of data. It will function as just a regular Ring Chime, which consumes minimal data to stay online and function.

Hi Justin, you didn’t quite answer the question from ken_bar. He did not ask if it consumed a lot of data. His question was does the Chime pro still broadcast new extender networks. Is there anyone who can answer that for us?

Hi @pdebartolo. Yes, the Ring Chime Pro will broadcast a Chime Pro network.
