Hello @M85 ,
In order for you to use this device that “they” told you belonged to someone else, you need for the previous “older” owner to relinquish their “Ownership” of that device, or else it can not be used or setup by anyone else on their Ring account. One aspect of “Ownership” is that it keeps Ring devices from being reset or reassigned in cases of theft.
So this device still “thinks” it is owned by the “old” owner. That “old” owner would need to log onto their Ring App and:
- Tap Main Menu (the 3 horizontal line icon, upper-left-corner of dashboard).
- Tap Devices.
- Select the device/doorbell you wish to remove.
- Tap Device Settings (Gear shaped icon).
- Tap General Settings.
- Tap Remove This Device.
Explanation of "Ownership:
