It would be nice to be notified if a camera (or doorbell) is offline, like Ring does with the alarm system. Would not need to be instant (I get the load issues), maybe a periodic ping to the camera every so often. One other way to do it could be for cameras set to upload periodic snapshots, if they quit coming. I am sure Ring can find a way to do this. Just so we would know if an installed camera has gone offline.

Why has this still not been implemented??? Finding out the doorbell is no longer working only when you miss an expected delivery is irritating and dumb.

They used to have that. They turned it off, because these stupid security lights have some sort of horrible bug in their firmware. They periodically go offline and then online for one minute, offline again for a half hour, back up for a minute. It's all logged in the app, but they were flooding people's phones with these alerts and the "solution" was to turn them off for everyone, with no option to turn them back on. (!) The root cause remains, of course, so you have to periodically power cycle them to get them back to "smart" status again. This reminds me of the old weather stations that periodically required popping the batteries out and putting them back to get the temperature to show up on the base station again. Bottom line, if a human has to monitor and babysit a device, it isn't a smart device. In some ways, these things are worse than the old "dumb" equivalents. This is really required. Hope the team of Ring will be able to find a solution.

Really frustrated to realize such a basic and common sense feature is missing. My husband is writing a task that will run in the system tray that pings the device periodically(we set a static IP) and will pop up a notification to me. Unfortunately I will need to be on my computer for this but for now it will have to do. Also annoyed because no other device drops off our network and we have a router satellite near the doorbell and the last recorded wifi signal is always good when we discover it offline again. Also annoyed that it's apparently incapable of reconnecting itself even if there is a connectivity issue at some point, if the network were to improve or return.

Basic requirement for a security feature. Makes me hesitate to further invest in Ring ecosystem.
