Motion activated recording starts but light stays off.

Hi,

I have purchased “Spotlight Cam Battery HD Security Camera”, and I wasn’t able to find the answer from other posts.

My camera works great, and it detected our mail theft twice. However, the ligth stays off the whole time, so we could not see their faces. How can we turn it on?

I have tried to:

  • widen the motion zone, and max the sensitivity (recording starts even with lower sensitivity)

  • walked right in front of the camera back and forth (recording starts with no light on)

  • turn on/off the light manually (it worked fine)

  • turned off motion schedule

  • motion frequency is at “Frequent”

Is there any setting I’m missing out?

Hi @markpugner. To clarify, the light on your Spotlight Cam is not coming on when motion is detected, is that correct? You may need to adjust the settings for the lights specifically. Open the Ring App > Main Menu > Devices > your Ring > Device Settings > Light Settings and ensure Turn Lights on With Motion is toggled on. If it is already toggled on, try turning it off and then back on. If that doesn’t work, I’d suggest resetting the Camera and taking it through a new setup. To reset it, you’ll want to hold down the setup button for at least 20 seconds. After that’s done, you’ll need to set the Camera up again in the Ring App by following the steps under Set Up a Device.
