Is a Ring bridge required for battery operated spotlights

I’ve been trying to resolve why my three spotlight battery operated ring lights (no cameras but do have motion detectors) continue to utilize the batteries for about 3 days and then stop. Ring Support told me tonight I had to have a bridge in order for the battery spotlights to work. I don’t understand that. They are battery operated and work when batteries are put in but don’t last a week. Can someone tell me if a bridge is required and if so, why? I didn’t think these lights were “smart” lights. Thank you.

Glad you asked, @TornadoT! The Ring Smart Lighting Bridge is necessary in order to setup and operate your Smart Lighting devices in the Ring app. It enables smart security features and connects your Ring smart lights with other compatible devices. I hope this helps!
