Probably because it’s not a hardwired only doorbell. I know the battery cams cannot have it turned on, but if you switch it to plugged in mode you can turn it on. When I try to turn it on with my new Battery Doorbell Plus which is hardwired it says it is not available also. I just use the motion sensing to turn on my front door light through Alexa. You can also make a voice prompt routine to be played on an Alexa device, but they don’t make any outdoor ones that are weather proof.
