Glass break sensor

It would be great to have an actual glass break sensor for the alarm system. It’s a real short coming of the ring alarm system that otherwise is a very good system. I do not wish to use an echo to listen for glass break sounds. A dedicated glass break sensor that is fine tuned to the sounds of breaking glass and can pick up the shock waves from glass breakage would be a much better solution

To jaspurc and Ring Company: Need a Glass Break sensor that attaches to the glass itself to detect when the glass breaks. Not something that just 'listens' for the sound of breaking glass.

@Boone Do you want to buy a sensor for every pane of glass that you have? Not to mention the obviousness making the windows look ugly. A single nondescript glass break sensor placed away from rhe window is much better.

at Teethdood ... My windows are comprised of a large single pane on the bottom movable part and a single pane on the top ... with each part having a removable criss-crossing frame (to give the illusion of six individual panes per part and to provide easy removal for cleaning the interior side). I would buy one sensor per window (probably for only the lower large pane). Same goes for my large bay windows that do not open ... it is compirsed of one single huge glass window with a fake frame to make it look like many smaller panes. These window would only need a single sensor on the glass. These types of window are very common nowadays. As for a choice between Ugly or Safety/Security ... I'll choose security. Now if there is a reliable "listening for breakage" sensor that can detect a window breaking, I would consider that.

It's insane that Ring has neither released a glass break sensor, or integrated with a 3rd party option. Over 2 years Ring claims "glass break sensor is on the roadmap, but no release date". Ring has released a Second Generation security system, yet there is still no glass break sensor. Since we're closing in on 2.5 years, Ring customers have been more than patient. Time for Ring to deliver on years if promises.

I am considering returning my just bought system over this. Totally did not see that the "glass break" solution was dependant on guard, which does not arm in stay mode and cant leverage the rings backup internet. Glass break is a MUST esspecially for people with door sized single pane windows.
