This is a basic requirement in today’s world.
At a minimum there should be geofencing to alert you if you are X miles away and the system is disarmed. Frontpoint your competitor has this. Ring please add this soon.
Either offer it natively or allow integrations (SmartThings) to be able to set it
Make it just like the Nest thermostat - very effective.
Also mode change by time- ie change between day and night mode automatically by setting the time.
Agreed - how can Ring be a smart system if it has to be manually managed?? Modes is not a feature ready for prime time and the team should be embarrassed to release this when Nest / Google have automated location detection.
Year later still no auto switching? Might be time to look at nest again

It would be great if camera status (eg armed, disabled, lost connection) and/or the current mode of the overall ring system (disabled, home, away) was available via the API so it can be consumed by Alexa, IFTTT, Home Assistant - it’s currently not reported. This status would allow a routine/automation to check state on a schedule or other trigger and remind to change mode. Even better would be possibility of changing modes (using a security pin) via API, eg Home Assistant set mode to away based on geofencing.
How is this not a thing yet? There is already the ability to turn notifications off/on on a schedule, why can’t we set a schedule for modes?
Another disappointed user - again, the ability to define modes without having to access the app repeatedly would be very useful. A schedule & geo-fencing protocols please. I’d like to be able to switch the living room indoor cam on at night (so that if we had a break-in, we have footage recorded), but I don’t want it on constantly, so the ability to set a simple schedule for overnight would be helpful. Equally, I’d like the ability to increase the sensitivity in away mode compared to that in home mode, plus have away mode activate automatically if there is no-one home.
Any chance of a constant record mode too - seems crazy to not have the ability when items are mains powered.

While the reminders are a step forward, that is a tiny step. Enable full automation of mode switching. When no account holders are home, switch to arm. When an account holder is home, switch to home. Just complete the gap from reminders to automation.

I installed my floodlight camera and liked the experience, and so I was hoping to replace my two indoor Arlo Qs with Ring Indoor Cams. Unfortunately, as temperamental as the Arlo geofencing can be, it’s vastly superior to what Ring current supports.
For me to replace them Ring must:
- Automatically arm the cameras when both my wife and I are out of the house
- Arm according to a schedule when either of us are home (so it can record overnight)

For ring alarm systems it would be good to get a notification when a device(s) (mobile phones) leave a geofence, I.e. leaves home but the ring alarm is not armed.
This is a great reminder feature already in place with other security systems.

I wish the alarm could be set to automatically activate and de activate when I leave or come home. Same for cameras

Yes this is essential now, companies like Arlo have had this feature for a long time.
