Echo Show 8 mic not working

Hi There,I have installed the Ring doorbell 2nd gen and connected it with my Echo show 8. If I access the doorbell from the echo show manually (live view) the mic mic works perfect and i can talk to the person at the door. However, when someone rings the doorbell the feed automatically comes up on the echo show but I cannot speak to them. The mic doesn't work (I've pressed the mic button on the screen etc). Has anyone encountered this problem? If I say alexa talk to the front door the feed opens and the mic works but its only when someone rings the doorbell and the feed appears it doesn't work. Is it a bug I wonder?

I would like to reiterate this problem seems to be evident across multiple Alexa devices. Both the show 5 I got today with the ring and my previous echo have the same problem. I will be repeating some of the points others have made and thank them for their posts.Echo Show : * The ring doorbell announces to the echo-show device someone has pressed. There’s a blue spinning circle on the doorbell* The echo-show brings up the video/audio feed, pressing the microphone button shows on the UI as enabled.* The microphone does not work or output to the ring doorbell, the blue circle continues spinningEcho : * The ring doorbell announces audibly to the echo device, blue spinning circle on the doorbell* Say “Alexa answer the doorbell” and a green ring appears on the echo and then the green light indicates listening* No audio can be heard on the doorbell, the blue ring continues spinningTo continue others experimentation in this thread -* After telling the echo to answer the door and no microphone, if I say “Alexa stop” and issue a new command “Alexa answer the front door” it will work as expected with audio coming out of the door bell and spinning blue light stopping.* On the echo-show issuing the command “Alexa stop” on the video feed and saying “Alexa answer the doorbell” will then answer the doorbell correctly. Pressing the back arrow on the ui and then saying answer does not work, it has to be stopped it seems.* I can repeat the steps from others that answering with my iPhone works completely normally, and answering with the phone enables the use of the mic on the echo show after.* Close proximity and strong WiFi doesn’t help or change behaviourThere is an issue with Alexa devices answering notifications, the repeating of commands working seems to show that. I will also have to return the devices if this isn’t fixed in a week or two.

My echo mic does not work either. As long as the circle on the ring doorbell is spinning blue, nobody can hear me through my echo show 5. Answering on my phone and clicking the green button stops the spinning on the ring doorbell and communication works fine. So to summarize, spinning circle on ring doorbell means you can hear them, they can't hear you. Answer on phone and click green phone icon, the spinning stops immediately and 2 way communication works without a problem. Answer the doorbell on the echo show, the spinning does not stop on the ring and they cannot hear you. Once the spinning stops, you can say talk to the front door on the echo show and 2 way communication will work. The echo show 5 answering software is completely bugged and useless.

I am having exact same issue with Echo Show 5 and Ring Wired doorbell I got today. I have been going crazy all day trying to figure out what is wrong and found this thread. It is very dissapointing to see that people have been having this issue for more than two months and there is not a fix yet. Seems also that the Ring employees replying here do not know what they are doing and do not have any communication with actual Ring devs? Someone who is officially with Ring needs to answer here and tell us if they are going to fix this or not or I will have to return my Ring doorbell and Echo device.

Exact same issue here. I feel we are all repeating ourselves and Ring don’t seem to be hearing us.

Hi neighbors. In this thread [here](https://community.ring.com/t/cannot-talk-to-ring-doorbell-from-echo-dot/61737/5), a neighbor with a similar concern has shared that they've contacted the Alexa support team and this concern should be fixed soon. As always, thank you for bringing this to our attention. I've shared this with our team and they are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Thanks, neighbors!
