Echo dot Amazon Alexa connection

Hi, I have connected my doorbell with my echo dot device and I have enabled chime notifications on echo dot. My problem is that many times echo dot doesn’t get notifications about doorbell hits. It is semms that notifications comes to echo dot randomly.

Can you provide me a guide to check if I have done the connection of the devices correctly?

Moreover, the notification on echo dot is only a simple sound with a voice message. Can I change it to a more long sound in duration?
