Chime not connecting to wifi

That worked for me (y)

At this point, I’d ask for my money back. You have never been able to use it and you have tried everything to get it to connect to your network. I am having the same issue with my chime, although mine previously worked. I had to get a new modem and now my chime won’t connect to the network. Ring doesn’t seem to have an answer.

Answering “No” to the “Do you want to use this network again?” question worked for me. Thanks Wetty!

The main problem that I have, is that I don’t have the option to choose “No” , when I am about to select whether I have used this network before or not.
And the second issue I have is that when I reset my chime, or unplugged it plug it back in, it won’t flash slowly. It flashes fast, then it stops, and I never get the chance to connect it.

It doesn’t ask me to choose a network. It brings up the chime network and then just says it can’t find wifi or I may not be close to the router. Even though I am doing the setup right next to the router.

Hey neighbors! During the Chime setup there are a couple steps for connecting to a network. Within the first few setup steps in the Ring app, the app will want to pair with the Chime setup network. This is where you will visit your mobile device wifi settings/ list and connect to the Chime setup access point. Once connected, return to the app and continue through the setup steps in the Ring app.

At the end of your setup, the Ring app will then ask you to choose your home wifi network from a list. If your network is not showing up there, please tap the “add a hidden network” option on this page to manually enter your wifi information.

If this concern persists, despite trying the above steps, please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available here. We’re taking additional steps to protect our team and help reduce the spread of COVID-19, so this has resulted in longer than normal wait times. It worked! finally ! Thanks!

Had issue with connecting door chime… Firstly my door chime came part of a kit and I had no idea which one to pick from list (Ring please put model description on box it would help massively)
Kept getting failed message and what I found worked was when it asks to connect to same WiFi system say No and search and select from WiFi lists and re enter WiFi code

When setting up, enter QR code or pin, when it asks if flashing green press yes, then turn your WiFi connection on device you are using off. It will then tell you to connect to a WiFi, at this point select your Chime device in WiFi list. It will then connect and probably need to update, it will then search for your Internet connection WiFi, select your network and enter password. Takes a while to update firmware. Good luck

Hi guys, this will likely be my only message on here but i’ve had a nightmare connecting my chime to WIFI and then figured it out.

So thought I’d spend a little time writing this in case it helped anyone.

What sorted mine out was that during the wizard when it asks you to scan the barcode for your chime, i was scanning the packaging box bar code, which the app was accepting. The app identified the line based bar code and cracked on through the wizard. Only id get a ‘hmm that didn’t work’ type message while trying to connect to the wifi. I was just about to give up and return the thing when i unplugged it from the wall and realised there’s also one of those square QR scanned labels on the back of the plug itself. I thought i’d give that a go and hey presto… instantly worked. Give that a try, if you’ve been using the packaging code or bar code, try scanning the QR box on the back of the device itself.

Tip, since that code won’t be visible when the device is plugged in, i took a picture of it with a secondary phone, plugged in the chime then when it the time came that the scan was needed, you just scan the picture that’s sitting on the secondary phone.

Hope that helps someone,

Jon

Mine quit working for two weeks and now it works why I don’t know. I’ll see how long it lasts. To me it’s junk I need a dependable product.

I upgraded my router and got the doorbell to connect to my wi-fi but the chime wouldn’t. I spent several hours trying every way recommended. I then called ring support and the first tech made me redo everything I had already done several times before referring me to an advanced tech. He asked me about my phone, which is an android model. The first thing he had me do was, 1. go to settings, 2. go to the General Management setting, 3. push the Reset button, then push the Reset the Network Settings button, when it asks if you want to connect, press no so you have to renter your password, 4. then return to the Ring app and restart the process to add the chime to the network. When I did it that time, it set up the chime with no problem. After getting the chime back online don’t forget to connect it to you ring doorbell.

Same issues. Had to power down the hub the other day now fighting for it to rejoin. Should find it automatically.

Hi @lewisburg03. Thanks for sharing that information, as I’m sure it will help most neighbors here!

I have attempted to install the Chime as well. All day and no such luck. This has been an on going issue for months. My sister tried to install it and to no avail, she decided to try my phone as that is what support suggested. So at this juncture we are over it! The Chime is not a good investment.

I am so frustrated at this process. Reaching someone for help has been a nightmare. Uggh! The chime is not connecting to the internet. I have rebooted the router, turned off my cell phone and tried the installation of this for months. OMG!! I had to give up. Since Covid it has been on my list of things to do so I tried for hours today and nothing, zilch, nada!! Is it defective?
