Ring Security Cameras
All of a sudden my Ring Floodlight light is sensitive
I have had the ongoing issue of my Ring Floodlight cam being set off by car headlights that are not in my motion zones but NOW, within the past couple of weeks those headlights are triggering my light to come on too. I have done nothing different with my cam or motion zones. It also picks up white vehicles (during the day) that drive by my house and are not in one of my motion zones. I am so completely aggravated by this Floodlight/Cam. I moved to lowest sensitivity to no avail. I don't even have the light zone closest to the street turned on. The most awesome thing of all is that when I pull into my driveway, where a motion zone IS, the light doesn't turn on until I walk on to my deck. What gives Ring?

I'm having the same issue with my flood light cam. I called ring and they could not figure it out. A few days later I received an email from ring that stated this is the new expected behavior of the lights. What BS!

RI've not gotten anything from Ring one way or the other. If this is the way they're going to work, I'm buying a new spotlight cam from another company! The way it was before was perfect. Now that we're stuck with either the lights off or the lights coming on every time a car goes by, it's useless. Good job, Ring. Good job.

GSo they have broken the floodligh cam! Even my APP says I can adjust the sensitivity for the lights sepperately, it just doesnt work. These lights are now not only unsuitable (I have been mis-sold them) but dangerous to passing vehicles. Directly in front of my house I want camera to trigger but not floods, and to each side floods to trigger, but not camera. How can I protect my neigbours privacy and not record them, but still illuminate my garden. Utter garbage, and tottaly ill thought out. I now need to dump the floodlight cam onto e-bay, and buy sepperate lights and camera. Guess they will not be ring units. Oh and sell my other two uninstalled cameras, and ring pro doorbell as wanted integrated solution. Was also looking at the alarm system, but if this is how ring behave to their customers not a chance.! Was a loyal customer who recomended these products to friends, but just a pile of junk now!

Anyone tried the swann SWIFI-FLOCAM2W-EU from screwfix uk? A fraction of the cost of the ring lights, and no subscription. OK only 7 days cloud and 8 days CF storage, but maybe worth looking into instead of these broken ring lights. Just bought £279 for 2 x floodlight cams AND 2 x spotlight cams direct from Swann UK. Currently less than half price. Ring / Amazon you make me so angry with this lack of respect for your customers, so now I have jumped ship. Will review my doorbell camera soon, a little more difficult to replace as fitted to the door frame, but it will go.

So with the latest firmware that was pushed out are some of you finding that the lights won't turn on now unless the camera detects motion? I haven't noticed any changes in that regard with my Floodlight Cam.

R@pdeethardt No, that's not what's happening. Before last month here's how the spotlight cam worked: 1: Set your camera's motion motion zone. 2: Set your camera's motion sensitivity. 3: Go to Device Settings for the Spotlight Cam. Tap Light Settings. 4: Set Motion Zones for the lights. In my case, that's at the minimum setting, so just under the Spotlight Cam 5: Under Light Settings, turn toggle to turn on Motion-Activated Lights. Prior to the SNAFU last month, the lights only came on when someone was near the house, maybe 15 ft. from the front door. When a car passed by the house, the camera would pick up the motion and record the vehicle, but the lights did not come on. That's how it worked for almost two years with my settings. NOW, since last month, any time the camera picks up motion in the street, the lights come on. Every...single...time. This is what's going on. Ring has stuck us with leaving the Spotlight Cams going on constantly with any movement or forcing us to switch off the Motion-Activated Lights and having no lights after dark. A MAJOR safety hazard and totally defeating the purpose of being a "spotlight cam" device. And we're all sitting here DISGUSTED that Ring has not responded to this major issue. Isn't that right @Tom_Ring @Marley_Ring @Caitlyn_Ring

Iim ready to sue for fraud and misrepresentation and if someone gets hurt because im forced to leave the lights off until this is fixed it'll be scorched earth time. tired of these trillion dollar companies implementing software changes to render a perfectly good product unusable so you will be forced to upgrade/ buy another. same thing the cellular companies do to your phone every 2 years. shameful, criminal, unethical, and assumes the consumer is too stupid to realize whats happening. then they roll out their robotic "support team" to read you a bunch of nonsense from a cue card and then they ultimately just stop responding as is evident here. disgusted is indeed how i feel as well. shameful

I have done some testing... if the camera picks you up in its zones set up it the light will come on and stay in until recording has finished. This is a new feature and the reason why my light goes off all the time, if the pir gets sets off it works as per normal so what needs to happen is to stop the light being triggered by the camera which did not happen a month ago! I wish the camera to record further out and the light to only to come on in a shorter area as before!

Add me to the list of disgruntled users! At least I am not alone :slightly_smiling_face: My camera overlooks a road facing my house. I obviously do not want the security camera going off when cars are aproaching, and dazzling oncomming cars, so the forward sensitivity has been turned right down so only lighting on unauthorised movement in my garden. Now it lights at every car, pedestrian, cat, bird etc that goes past. It must be like blackpool illuminations (look it up if outside the UK :slightly_smiling_face:) in the area, and I have had to turn it off for safety concerns. It has worked for years, and now the sensitivity settings do not work. They are either "max sensitivity in all zones" or "off". For the sake of safety, sort this out. Because this system has been so good I have two more floodlight cameras I intend to fit on the other side of the house, but unless this serious issue is resolves they will be on eBay, along with this floodlight camera. I find it irritating when big tech companies create issues in their products that have been running fine for years (I will not be upgrading if that is the intention). I can not use it responsibly while it works in this defective manor. Peter from the UK
