Adding a second battery is a joke - don't do it

Dissappointed in adding a second battery… Why would Ring make is so only ONE battery at a time is used? I get that it doubles the time of the device, but KILLS batteries to deplete them to zero. Can the software be tweaked so both batteries are used and at the recommended approx. 25% left both can be charged? Constantly draining to zero and recharging shortens the lifespan of a rechargable battery drasically. Maybe you know that and are looking at planned obolense?
