Why isn't floodlight allowing me to set up without Bridge

The packaging doesn't say you need to purchase a bridge to have this item work. I've Wired it, mounted it, turned power back on and nothing happened. Flipped switch a couple of times, still nothing. Is this a bad unit, or am I required to purchase a bridge to set up and have this work?

The Bridge acts a hub and controller for all of your Ring Smart Light devices.       I am very confused... your FAQ says it will work as a typical motion-sensing floodlight. "Without the Ring Bridge, your Floodlight Wired functions only as a standard motion-sensing light. " Mine, just stays on all the time? That is not 'standard'? I bought this because your FAQ and marketing material said I didn't have to have the bridge. Is there a way to get it to work like a standard motion-sensing light?

    Hi there, neighbors! The Ring Smart Lighting Bridge is requires to operate your Smart Lighting device in the Ring app. Without the Ring Bridge, your Smart Lights function only as individual units. They will be able to turn on and illuminate but no motion settings will be able to be setup, nor will they be able to be added to a group or operated via the Ring app. Any smart functions of your Smart Lighting devices are obtained via the Bridge. With that being said, as long as your Smart Lighting is powered properly, there should be some response from your device such as lights. For instance, even when not connected to the Bridge, my A19 bulbs will illuminate when powered on.
