Ring Transformer functionality

I'm a little confused by the Ring transformer functionality. WITHOUT the Ring Bridge, does it still connect to Ring app via Wifi? If I just want to set up landscape light schedule and remotely turn on/off the transfomer, do I really need a Ring Bridge? Also the Transformer + Bridge combo doesn't have Add To Cart button at all in this page https://ring.com/products/smart-lighting-transformer-bridge where could I find alternative with this discounted price?
