Ring Pro Doorbell on Battery
troubleshooting

This has happened to me a few times since I upgraded from Ring V2 to Ring Pro. Ring Pro is connected to the official Ring Booster Wifi in my porch due to the fact the porch is brick and protrudes out to the front of the property, but has a power socket in the porch for the Ring Wifi Booster. Its connecting fine to this on the Chime Network (RSSI-48 at current momemt) and this is conencting to Wifi on Router at RSSI 47. What is happening is someone rings the Pro Doorbell, the blue LEDS spin and the chime modules in the house let me know someone is at the dooor so it seems its all working. However tonight a friend called to see me at 8pm but when I left to drop him back at 11pm (3 hour later), the Ring Pro LEDS were blue, still lit and spinning round. I pressed the doorbell and it worked fine and rang my chimes, I waited 2 mins, but they stayed lit, I dropped him home (a total of 20-25 mins rounds trip) when I got back, it was still spinning the Blue LEDs on the doorbell. I removed the security screw, dropped the battery out and put it back in, and after it established connection the Blue LEDS went off and it was back to normal. The battery level on my Ring Pro was at 83% before he called and when I dropped the battery out, its being charged - using the offficial Ring Solar Panel and it hadnt dropped since my friend rang the bell at 8pm. Is thie a firmware bug or code bug on my device? I cant do a support call until probably Monday 21st or Tuesday 22nd April.

Hi @chrisk. This Help Center article below has information on what this light pattern indicates.   https://ring.com/gb/en/support/articles/nqhe0/Understanding-doorbell-light-patterns?hasLangChanged=true   I suggest performing a reset. You can do this by pressing and holding the setup button for 20 seconds, then releasing. Then you can reconnect the device. Let me know if this helps.

Thanks Tom - this has happened before this is the second time it’s happened and I did a reset that time - this time I’ve discovered that if you just drop the battery out and put another one in it reset it anyway but it sounds to me like there’s a firmware bug

Hi @ChrisK. A solid blue light indicates an active event. I'd suggest checking the Event History to see if there was a motion detection, or a Linked Device event being recorded.

Answer to Caitlyn_Ring. I realise the blue light means this, but my friend had pressed the doorbell push I answered the door and let him in, but didnt check the ring to see if the blue LED stopped after 30 seconds etc, and it continued, as when we left 3 hours later it was still spinning, and my phone which had recorded him on video was in the cloud and there was no other active events - including the history, so it looked like it didnt stop the event after the ring bell push, so just kept running, the battery level hadnt dropped so it was just the LED running.

@ChrisK Keep in mind that a motion detection event will also turn the blue LED on, not only Doorbell Rings. Either way, if there is nothing listed in Event History, try using the reboot option from the Device Health page to reboot the Doorbell. You can also contact our support team directly @Ring on Facebook, X, or Instagram if this issue persists. A member of our support team can take a closer look at things on the back end.
