Cannot hear audio when microphone is on

Hello, on my battery doorbell when the microphon is on I cannot hear audio. I have to speak with the mic on and then turn it off to be able to hear the person at the doorbell. Is this normal? Its works fine without having tontun off the mic on my other hardwired doorbell and my floodlight camera
