Security light turns on and stays on
I’ve installed 3 security camera/lights and have an issue with one. It seems at dusk the lights come on and stay on. If I turn it on then off in the app it stays off for the rest of the night. I have disabled modes to insure that wasn’t causing it and have not set any schedules. All three devices are set up the same and only one does this. Any ideas why and how to stop it? Thanks

I'll give that a try, thanks. But, do you mean the sensitivity level, not brightness? BTW, I now see that it isn't at dusk. I checked last night at midnight and this morning it was on. Wondering if it's critters getting in the light zone, but but the camera zone. I only have the center light zone active due to the location of the camera.

Hi @tonyman. Have you tried adjusting the brightness level to mitigate these concerns? Try that and let me know how it goes for you.

TAs I stated in another reply, I don’t see how brightness would cause this since that is something tied to operation after they turn on, and can’t see how that would affect when they turn off. I feel sensitive would be more in the area of when they turn on. I turned it down to 2/3 and it made no difference. And, the real problem is the light doesn’t turn off unless I toggle the setting in the app. I’m going to try restarting the unit. If that doesn’t resolve it then I feel it’s a defective unit since I don’t see any other settings that would affect it.

I'm having a similar problem. I have "Lights" and "Motion Alerts" turned OFF in the "Devices" home page. Motion detection and all other camera functions work perfectly, and I don't have any light schedules set up. In spite of all this, the lights come on intermittently during the daytime and stay on until I turn them off in the Ring App. They don't come on spontaneously at night as far as I know, because the camera and light are outside my bedroom window and if they came on during the night they would wake me up. I called Ring Customer Support and talked to two different agents. One suggested that I slide the Light Brightness slider to the middle, and I did that. They both recommended I reboot the device, but I'm hoping there is another solution that I can manage from the Ring App or my laptop.

TSad to hear you have multiple units doing this, at least I only have one. I’m not sure why Ring would say adjust the brightness. I don’t see where that would affect them going on. My thought is that brightness comes into play after something causes them to come on. I feel sensitivity would be a possible culprit since that would determine what causes it to come on. I turned mine down to 2/3 and still have the problem. But, the real problem is why does it stay on. I might try the restart this weekend end, but that sounds like starting everything thing from scratch. If that doesn’t fix it I’ll try calling Ring. Otherwise, it sounds like defective units.

Found it on again this morning. I've rebooted the device, will see if that made a difference, then report back in the next few days

Well, the light was stuck on again after rebooting. Got a busy week, but will try to call Ring. My feeling is I’ve got a defective unit.
