Ring floodlight cam. Lights turn on when I walk in view, but no video
Hi everyone. I have a new ring floodlight cam. For live video I see the entire field of view. I have set the motion settings area using the field of view it shows on the screen. My issue is that for half of the field of view, the floodlight comes on, but no detecting of a person, and thus no video recorded. I verified that walking on the right side of the field of view gives no motion detection alert, no video recorded. I walk to the left and sure enough I get an alert to my phone and video recorded. So things like WiFi, etc are ok. Like I said, the floodlight comes on…so it detects that motion. When I say left and right, both of those fields are in the area shown in the motion area. I have the motion sensitivity set all the way to max. Thanks for any pointers. Of course I paid my electrician to install this but didn’t check this functionality before he took the ladder down and left.

Hi @soleblazer. There is a separate range of motion detection for the lights and the camera on your Floodlight Cam. This results in occasions where the lights will come on due to motion detection, but that motion is not in the camera’s field of view so there is no video event recorded. The main recommendation for motion detection concerns is to adjust your Motion Zones and Motion Sensitivity to find what works best. If you’re using the Smart Alerts feature, I’d also suggest testing out motion detection with this on and off to see what fits your needs better.
