Camera turns black

After getting an motion notification, my camera goes black. This is scary! Last night we heard a bump in the door, checked camera and it was black, then a few minutes later went on recording as normal.....what would cause this? (Also had the camera freeze while still recording.)time kept ticking, but camera was frozen
