  Hi @TaylorC01. To mute notifications while in Disarmed Mode, open the Ring app and follow these steps- Menu \> Devices \> Alarm Base Station \> Contact Sensor and toggle off Open Alerts and Closed Alerts. This will disable the notifications and can also be done with your Motion Detectors. When in Home/Away mode, opening one of these doors will cause your alarm to go off and notify you that way. You can test this by going into [Self Monitoring](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005322066-Understanding-Monitoring) and seeing how your system reacts. I hope this helps!

  I dont understand, I dont want motion detector when Ring is not armed or its in the Home setting, how do I do this? thanks

  Hi @user15240. You cannot turn off or disable the Motion Detector. You can turn off Motion Alerts by following the steps in the solution, but the Motion Detector will still detect motion and log this in the Event History.

  Seriously? Isn't this the point of disabling or "disabled??" In other words, Ring's use of the word "disabled" is not only misleading, it is in fact just wrong. The motion detector is very slow/delayed, yet actuates and takes a short video clip of nothing, quite often. Per the app, my sensor should detetect any movement along the sidewalk, yet I'm lucky to get a video of the person leaving. Nevertheless, what's the point of putting in a "disabled" mode in a system when it flat out doesn't do it?
