Ring solar panel - Plastic cover?

Hi, I bought the Ring Solar Panel to use with my doorbell 4 and my son installed it for me last weekend. I asked today whether there was a plastic protective film over the front of the solar panel and if so, whether he took it off. He said he didn't take anything off and can't remember if there was one there or not. I know it's very common for this sort of thing to have a peel-off protective film but he doesn't remember and it's now mounted at the top of the house where it's not easily visible.
