How to attach Ring Battery Doorbell HD Video to Stucco Wall?
troubleshooting

I bought a Ring Battery Doorbell HD video and had a handyman attach the plastic mounting plate to my stucco wall. No matter how I adjust it, tightening or loosening the mounting screws, it's slightly bent, deformed, and the doorbell won't click onto it securely. I found a "No Drill Mount for Battery Doorbells" on the Ring website which is supposedly compatible with my doorbell and would enable a no-drill mounting. I can't make heads or tails of the instructions, but I have a doorbell with original mounting plate, a secondary mounting plate that doesn't seem compatible, and no doorbell. Has anyone else encountered this dilemma?

Hi @user_7b0548. It sounds like the handyman that installed the mounting plate may not have done so correctly. When installing the Battery Doorbell on stucco, brick, or concrete, you need to use a ¼ in (6 mm) masonry bit to drill holes for the included wall anchors. You can reference the installation instructions here https://ring.com/support/articles/9s4tp/installing-battery-doorbell.    For the No-Drill Mount, it should be installed on a smooth, even mounting surface. Since stucco is not a smooth or even surface, the No-Drill Mount is likely not a good choice here.
