Use for elderly parent to alert when leaving apartment

My elderly parent lives in an apartment (only one door). We want to be notified via the app when she leaves, without all the bells and whistles going off in her apartment. Is this possible with the basic security system? Thanks for any help.

Hi @user12191. Yes! There are a few ways you can accomplish this. If you have the [Ring Alarm](https://ring.com/products/security-system-alarm-5) system, you can use a Contact Sensor to monitor when the door opens/closes. If you choose to use a [Doorbell](https://ring.com/products/video-doorbell-v2), you can rely on the Motion Detection to alert you. Although with the Doorbell, you will get notifications for all motion. I hope this helps!
