Type of phone matters for Notifications to work properly
Ive read allot of reviews on Amazon and other sites that sells Ring security Cameras and also ones of other brands. I also read about allot of people saying that there camera system does not always send notifications in a timely matter to the owners phone when the cameras are triggered... I found out that this is not the fault of the camera system, but more of the type of phone or tablet being used.. I found this out first hand when i purchased another phone.. I have both Ring and Zmodo security cameras around my home. and also Have 6 EERO WiFi routers placed inside and outside also. I have 380MBSP Fiber internet... My phone "was" a LG Stylo 4 from Metro/Tmoble which works great, I get notifications within seconds after a camera is triggered.... NOW.. Recently I decided to purchase another phone from same provider.. Alcatel 3V series.. I bought it for the screen size and battery life. Overal, it works great for everyday average phone and texting, etc.. After i installed my Zmodo and Ring APPS, I noticed a trend.. Yes.. If you go into the apps and view the footage it does everything like it was designed to do, even show current Notifications.. BUT... Here is what it does NOT do.... When a camera gets triggered, it records the footage in the app but it does NOT alert the user that the event happened... When I am in the app viewing camera footage.. Only then it will start sending notifications to my phone. Once I leave the app, it will no longer send notifications... This must be a common problem with Low Budget Generic Phones. If I put my LG next to the other phone and walk around my house to trigger the cameras, the LG phone will get the Notifications and the other will NOT.. The next time you think your Ring camera system is not Notifying you of a event, check to make sure your not using a "Cheap Generic Phone". BTW. I still have the LG Phone and i guess I will use it over WiFi to use with the Cameras.
