Ring's Partnership with OnTech - Worst Service Experience!
negative-feedback
installation

I cannot find an email for Ring to tell them to stop partnering with OnTech. Has anyone else had a horrible experience? It can partly be my fault because I thought when I initiated service with OnTech that they would have the product. That is not the case. However, I didn’t know that. And in walks Brian into my home on May 15, 2024… Brian calls his supervisor to see if they have any Ring products on hand that he can pickup and install for me. They have no product. I should have just told him to go. But since he was here, I asked if he could install a smart door lock for me, instead. He didn’t quote me a price for installation. In hindsight, I should have asked. Brian was chit chatting with me while working and taking calls from work buddies to chat. A few times, he walked out of my house to talk to other people. Brian was telling me about different products and that I should go with Google products, instead. I’m sure Ring would love to know the company they have partnered with to install their products, tries to talk customers out of going with Ring devices and instead use Google products. Brian calls to talk to his manager to see if they have any Google products in stock. They do not. What I didn’t know is that Brian gets paid by the hour. Brian was supposed to refund the two services for Ring installations since I didn’t have the product. He did not. Instead, he charged me for two hours of “diagnostic services” that he didn’t perform. He installed a Smart Doorlock for me only to realize it didn’t work. In hindsight, I think he installed it wrong, so now I’ll have to install it myself. Before I knew he was completely incompetent, I asked if he could look to see if my thermostat could be changed to a Smart thermostat. He took it off the wall, told me I was missing a common wire, and therefore a Smart thermostat would not be compatible. And then he left. And that’s when I discovered Brian broke my thermostat. Only heat was coming out of my vents. I had to shut it off from my main circuit breaker. As soon as I realized, I found Brian’s number to call him. He was with another client and stated that he’d have to call his manager. In the meantime, I called OnTech directly and they opened up a case for me. They said I’d have to wait two days for someone to come out and assess the “alleged” damage. Two days without air conditioning? No. I told the person I was talking to that I was calling an electrician and I’d send them the bill, to which he replied, “You probably should call someone, because we will need estimates.” As of now, OnTech has billed me the following Charges: $275.08 for a ring doorbell and camera that Brian never installed $249.98 for 2 hours of “diagnostics services” that Brian never performed (pending charge on my CC) And it cost me $125 to have an HVAC guy come out and fix my thermostat on May16, 2024. And what’s even crazier, Brian sent me a bill to my personal email from his personal company should I want to install Google products. I thought I was putting information into his device to approve a refund. He never told me he was having me input my information into his personal business site. Would you want to work with these people? Ring should be embarrassed. I am furious!! And I have yet to hear back from OnTech on zero services provided. I will be disputing all charges via my credit card company. And OnTech should be refunding all of their charges and covering my $125 bill.
