Ring's stance on Facial Recognition

Hi There, just a general query. I found a 2020 blog post on Ring's webpage regarding use of AI technology for facial recognition, stating Ring's stance was to 'not use facial recognition technology in any of its devices or services'. I was wondering why that is and if it is expected to change? Many thanks, loving my doorbell camera so far.
