Is my existing doorbell transformer compatible with the hardwired doorbell?
Hi all,Above is my existing doorbell transformer with voltages printed on it, but I’m not sure which one is the maximum voltage power; is it 8-16v? (i.e. 16v), or is it 6v? I don’t know which is the correct number to look at, and if I can use a wired Ring doorbell with this transformer. Any help would be appreciated!Thanks

Thank you for your reply. I believe I’ve found the actual transformer, pictured below. I’m not sure what VAC or VA means in relation to the figures on my transformer as it just says 8V + 4V → 12V total. Based on the picture, will this transformer be able to do the job? Thanks!

THi @Duney123. There’s not enough information in this picture to tell. It would depend on the number of VA (Volt Amps) the transformer is rated for. I suggest calling a qualified electrician and asking if this know if this particular transformer will work, as I’m sure they’ve dealt with them before.

Hi @Duney123. I do not believe those numbers represent what type of transformer you have leading to the chime. It is letting you know the type of transformer it can handle. I recommend searching for the transformer you have to make sure it meets the requirements of 10–24 VAC, 40VA max, 50/60Hz. If you are not able to do so, I recommend consulting a qualified electrician for further assistance.
