Two factor Identification

When I log into my account at Ring.com from my personal computer, the two factor ID code is sent to our cellphone. If my wife is away from home and has the cellphone, I cannot log in which makes no sense. How can I get the code sent to my email address if I log in via my home computer and to our cellphone if logging in from the cellphone?
