Ring Doorbell 3

My ring doorbell 3 keeps switching from hard wired to battery. Why? Also, when it switches to battery it won’t ring my mechanical doorbell inside my home.

Hi @EThompson81 ! Can you please confirm the power source/voltage you have connected to your Video Doorbell 3? Thanks!

@EThompson81 Chiming in for Jennifer here! How often do you see it swap from hardwired to battery? It's possible the connection may not be secure enough, so I recommend tighten the screws on the back of the Doorbell is ensure the wires are secure. Please also ensure that there is no damage to the wires that could be causing this back and forth.

Probably once a day around 2-5pm pst. Right now it’s switched to battery. I’ve checked the connection to the back of the ring and everything is secure. I do have an older home. Built in 1961. Not sure if that could be the issue or not?

@EThompson81 It's possible the internal chime kit may be outdated and not compatible with the Doorbell. If it is currently showing as battery, or the next time this happens, could you please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406)? We're taking additional steps to protect our team and help reduce the spread of COVID-19. This has resulted in longer than normal wait times. If you are outside of the US, please read our response to COVID-19 [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-gb/articles/360041597471) to see how to contact support. They can take a look into this change back and forth for you and isolate this further. Let us know how this goes! :)

I’ll definitely do that and contact support. It’s now 6:00pm pst and it’s back to being hardwired. It also doesn’t slowly charge the battery on the ring. It’s steady going down about 1-2% a day. Thanks for your help thus far
