Hi, Thanks for the response. I find this quite strange that there is a plug attached as I would of thought it would make it awkward to mount as the cable would be exposed, thus meaning that someone could easily cut the wire to the camera and no one is going to drill a massive whole for the plug to fit though. I noticed the hard wire kit, however if there is a plug attached, I don’t understand on how that works then. Seems no information is provided online for this either. Do you remove the cable provided with the camera and replace with this hardware kit? I would prefer to know this information before spending money to find out it’s not what I want or it’s a waste of money

JI'm definitly not saying to do it, however, couple videos out there on the process show that the cable can quite easily be removed and then readded. Looks like it's held in by a couple of screws and no soldering so all you would need is a hole large enough for the cable.

L@AndrewK93 did you get this sorted? I also find it poor design not to be able, by default, to somehow feed the cable through a hole in wall. In UK there isn’t many outside sockets, and I for one wouldn’t want to do it that way anyway, as you’ve said, someone can then just switch it off!?! Did you find out how the hardwire kit works with it? I’ve only seen some vids and pics, but I don’t understand how the hardwire kit goes with the wired cam. The wired cam by Ring support, is a solid wire with a plug on. So if you’re going to use the hardwire kit you must have to cut something? @Jamzieth can you link any please, if it’s that easy why do Ring make it so hard and will this invalidate the warranty.

Hey neighbours. This Help Center article [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360046944791) has some instructions on how to install the Hardwire Kit for your Spotlight Cam. I hope this is helpful.

To achieve drilling a small hole rather than a larger one, you would unscrew the back plate of the camera's circular base. Inside you would unscrew the two ring connectors, metal wire collar, and lastly black sealant. This sealant can be removed using a heated exacto knife with caution. This is an option, but at your own risk from damage and voiding warranty.

Good question, @AndrewK93The Spotlight Camera Wired comes with a wire that has a plug attached at the end. This plug should not be removed, and we advise not making any alterations that are not intended by design to the device as this can void warranty. We recommend ensuring there is an outlet nearby the desired mounting location. There is also a [hardwired kit accessory](https://en-uk.ring.com/collections/accessories/products/spotlight-cam-hardwire-converter-kit) available as an alternative. I hope this helps! :)
