Solar not connecting
troubleshooting

I have a solar panel connect to my ring spotlight cam. When I plug it in the device health shows it connected. The next day it is not connected. I checked the plug and it’s secure. Do I have a bad solar panel?

Hi @user_26dcec. Ring Solar Panels require at least four hours of direct sunlight per day to provide a trickle charge to your camera's battery. Keep in mind that a trickle charge is not as fast as manually charging the battery, and having a lot of recorded events each day can drain the battery quickly.    Make sure the solar panel is clean and clear of any dirt or debris, and check that it is firmly plugged in at the camera and the panel. Verify that the panel is receiving direct sunlight, not indirect sunlight. Lastly, make sure your Ring app is updated, and reboot your camera with the reboot option on the Device Health page.    If you've tried all the troubleshooting steps above, and this issue persists, our support team can take a closer look. You can reach out to support at one of the numbers here, or @Ring on Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube.
