Trouble with chime volume

I have the doorbell and chime/with wifi extender all hooked up and working great except for the volume. We have a small house and it is very loud. I can adjust the volume on the slider from my phone. It says it saves it but even if I turn the volume all the way down the chime is still full volume. Either the volume slide on the app isnt working or the chime isnt registering a change. I can change the type of ring, so I know it is connected. I just need to get the volume down.
