Spiders and Spider Webs trigger motion on POE Elite Cameras

Hello: I have multiple Ring cameras and what is interesting is that the POE Elite Cameras must use a different method when seeing motion because as many have pointed out on this board that insects (spiders and webs for me) will often trigger the motion at night.  I have done everything to prevent this (all different methods via the app: sensitivity, Smart vs regular) and have also sprayed the areas as well and it really doesn't help much.  I also have two Spotlight Cam Plus/Pro cameras and they do not have the same issue.  So there must be something different and as a loyal Ring Customer I expect this bug (no pun intended) with the POE cameras to be fixed as this is unacceptable!  It would be nice to get a firmware update that fixes this!!  Please help or I may be forced to go to an entirely different company that doesn't have these issues.

Hi @Mike1967. Unfortunately, small insects and spider webs on or near the lens of a Ring Camera can trigger the motion detection. I'm sorry to hear settings adjustments and preventative measures so far have not been successful. If you haven't done so already, you could try treating the area around your cameras with essential oils (such as peppermint), which are reported to be a deterrent for spiders.

My research indicates that the issue is the infrared (IR) is used in the POE cameras and the spotlight/plus/pro uses more of a radar approach.  What a major pain - that RING has the ability to fix this issue but chooses not to!  for example they could: 1) change the approach to motion to use a radar instead of IR (or create a POE that does) 2) allow the user to turn off the IR (which other companies do) or allow users to have day only (not night) 3) improve their Smart alerts to use AI which has proven successful with other cameras (Reolink/Amcrest) Yet, we are stuck with this and no fix.  Love the suggestion from Caitlyn (spraying with Peppermint).  LOL - this is what you guys suggest?  (btw -as desperate as I am wrt this issue I have tried this nonsense and you literally need to do this every day to be about only 75% successful).  Please - just fix this issue.  You know it exists.  Or BE RESPONSIBLE AND STOP SELLING THIS AS AN OUTDOOR CAMERA
