Honeywell T6 Z-Wave Thermostat. ON HOLD feature

Very poor integration and feature set with the Honeywell T6 Z-Wave thermostats. Once the thermostats are connected to the Z-Wave controller, you lose the functionality of placing temperature On Hold from the thermostat…and that feature doesn’t exist in the Ring “thermostat” part of the app. Honeywell’s suggestion is to turn all schedules off, set temp, then turn back on…can only be done from the thermostat. In my last house, while traveling away from home, I like to use my mobile apps (Total Connect) to place my thermostats on permanent “HOLD”…then put back on schedule the same day I return. This is impossible with the T6Z and Ring integration.

You are correct on the lack of functionality of Ring with respect to the Honeywell z-wave thermostat. Reading the manual from Honeywell, they note that “z-wave controllers from various manufacturers may or may not support z-wave thermostat General V2 Device class used by the T6 pro z-wave thermostat. If your controller does not support full thermostat device class functions, it may still be able to control basic…modes of the thermostat…” Ring is not supporting full functionality such as programming and scheduling through the ring app. This is not a Honeywell issue, rather a decision on Ring’s part. With such basic functionality through Ring as you’ve also noted, I’ve removed the thermostat from Ring. If Ring updates its abilities to use the z-wave as Honeywell allows, then I would add it back.
