Wiring intercom to AIPhone VC-K.

Hi all, Wired my Ring Intercom up to the AIphone VC-K handset, exactly per the instructions - seemed simple enough. Did all the app setup - got to the part where I had to go out and press my doorbell and start registering it. Doorbell registered in the app just fine - however when getting to the part where I needed to click the button in the app to "unlock" the door (which in my case, is a gate on a roller that can normally be opened/closed by a button on the handset inside the house) - nothing. I also had the normal gate remote that we use to get in/out of the property - that wouldn't work either. I could hear clicking inside the gate motor when I pressed the button so it's recieving the signal but wouldn't do anything. I also confirmed at this time, that the button on the handset inside wouldn't operate the gate either. If it matters, the gate was in the "open" (same as unlocked, I guess) position when I began the whole thing, if that matters. I removed the entire Ring loom for the handset and normal operation with both the button and the remote resumed. Wondering if there's any issues that are common that you have come across?
