Wiring of Ring Video Doorbell Pro with Existing Buzzer in UK (Byron 1200/1210)
Hi, Happy New Year to you all and all in your bubbles. I'm a brand new member of this community (joined today) so please be gentle with me. Has anyone in UK managed to install a Video Doorbell Pro with an existing wired door buzzer? I've seen and followed several threads of installing with an existing wired chime but these are all for installations with 4 wires in the chime (2 in and 2 out) whereas my buzzer (Byron 1200/1210) is a simple 2 wire device. The current buzzer is a typical 8v a.c. one, driven by a transformer in the consumer unit so I know it can't be connected directly to the 24v a.c. Ring transformer, but I would like to have a buzzer rather than a chime so am looking for your guidance. I'm happy to replace my 8v a.c. buzzer with a 24v a.c. one if that makes it simpler, but struggling to find one of those too, so any recommendations would also be gratefully appreciated. Thanks and have a great day. George

This is how you do it - If you buy Doorbell Pro 2 you will need to buy an AC transformer for it, as the one provided won't work for this method. https://www.instructables.com/UK-Ring-Video-Doorbell-Pro-Working-With-Mechanical/

Amazing. I'll be stretching my knowledge a bit to put this together. Do you know if will work with the Byron 1200 bell? Thanks. G

Yes it should. You are basically making the relay act as the doorbell button, with the new higher powered doorbell on one side, and your existing doorbell on the other.

Hi Guys, I also have the same problem. I have an old circular byron, which i want to hook up to a ring wired door bell. I still dont follow this It must have a transformer already right? probably near the main box.. do i still need a power kit.. my wired ring doorbell doesnt come with one. Or do i just need to have additional 24 v transformer and a relay ... and no need for anything else?

Hi George Did you solve this puzzle? I've got exactly the same problem. I want a loud buzzer for my deaf son, alongside the smart alerts on his phone. I have the same Byron 1200 buzzer. Many thanks Gary
