Ring Video Doorbell 4 - no light/doesn’t work as a doorbell

troubleshooting

Evening all, Bit of a tricky one. Have had my video doorbell 4 for just over 2 years and it has been working fine until recently. It is still capturing video/movement etc but no longer works as a doorbell. Battery is charged etc and I have tried resetting through the app and resetting the doorbell with no luck. I did get the white circling light when I reset on the doorbell but then it went off. Any ideas / suggestions of what could be wrong with it?

Hi @user_3d804a. What happens when you press the Doorbell button? You should hear a ringer from the Doorbell itself, and receive a push notification if you have Ring Alerts toggled on. Do you have the Doorbell connected to an existing doorbell circuit with a chime kit?

Hi Caitlyn, nothing happens. I have the volume set to max for the doorbell and ring alerts are on, but no ring from the doorbell and no notification on my phone that it has been rung. The doorbell is on battery only (not sure if this is what you mean about it being on a doorbell circuit?), but I do have a chime linked to it.

Hi @user_3d804a. Caitlyn means to ask if your doorbell is hardwired to a doorbell transformer and a indoor chime kit. What is the RSSI for your doorbell, located in the Device Health menu. When you press the doorbell button, does this appear in your History as a red, Missed Event? What type of phone and what version of the Ring app is installed?

Hi Tom, Ahh ok, makes sense. No - doorbell is not hard wired to anything. RSSI is showing as 46 (RSSI -46). Pressing the doorbell does nothing, no ringtone from the doorbell and no notification or missed event in the app. I’m using an iPhone 15 pro with ring app version 5.80.1.
