New ring doorbell 2nd gen
wireless-security-cameras

Hi, I’ve just bought a new ring doorbell 2 from Amazon to replace my old ring 2 as I’d damaged the screen. The new one, although technically should be the same, has a built in battery not the quick release. Is this correct? Or have I been sent the wrong one? It says 2nd generation on the back, but I’m very confused as to why they’re different?

The Video Doorbell 2 is different from the Video Doorbell (2nd Gen). The 2nd Gen has a built-in rechargeable battery, while the Video Doorbell 2 has a removable Quick Release Battery Pack. If you're looking for a model that has a removable battery instead of the built-in one, the Battery Doorbell Plus would be a good option. You can purchase it on Ring.com or Amazon.com.

Oh that's disappointing. I've just bought one assuming it's the same battery as my Ring Outdoor Cameras and as such would be able to cycle the batteries from those. Well, if it arrives and it's not a replaceable battery, I shall send it back. Thank you for the heads-up.
